Why the name
Damocles
da-muh-klees
The name comes from the ancient story of Damocles, who stood beneath a sword suspended by a single thread. The story remains relevant because responsibility carries consequence. In critical operations, risk is always present, even when it is not visible. Damocles exists to expose that risk before failure does. We align operational reality, information and consequence so decisions can be made with structure, clarity and accountability.

our Story
Risk governance was built where frameworks failed.
Damocles was founded after years spent working within heavy industry, where we repeatedly witnessed the same disconnect between operational reality, data, systems and expectation.
Frameworks were introduced from above but failed to translate into practical outcomes. Organisations pursued analytics, optimisation and digital transformation without the underlying structure required to support them. Projects accumulated history but not capability. Scope expanded, engagement declined and millions were spent without delivering the intended objectives.
Asset management is difficult to sell. It is even more difficult to sell a second time. Too often, investment would have been better directed toward the fundamentals.
Are assets properly captured? Can people find them? Are they being maintained appropriately? Do they even require maintenance at all?
These questions are not glamorous, but they represent the majority of the problem. One cannot optimise what does not exist. One cannot build upon absent foundations.
Damocles was formed in response to this reality.

Values
Mission Coherence
Every action serves the objective.
Mission Coherence
We operate with Coherence. Every action we take considers both the long-term and short-term objectives of the organisation. We act with purpose in mind. We are deliberate in what we do and how we deliver it. Continuous calibration of our trajectory to the greater goal is a part of our ethos.
Precision & Excellence
Excellence is our standard.
Precision & Excellence
Our outcomes are precise and of exceptional quality. Precision means we deliver no less than promised and excellence is our promise. Disciplined precision deliveries consistent results. Repeated excellence is therefore our outcome.
Truth Before Comfort
Our results are measured against reality.
Truth Before Comfort
We pride ourselves in the acceptance of Truth. Information is most useful when it’s true and absolute truth perfectly reflects reality. Decisions made in absence of truth induces errors and the early caught the better. At Damocles we present this information in a dignified manner, but we never hide.
Strategic Restraint
Acknowledgement of boundaries.
Strategic Restraint
We acknowledge Limits. Depending on context limits can be avoided, pushed or respected. Ignorance has a cost and ignoring limits is equally costly. Our approach takes boundaries into account and maximises value within the space provided. Legislation must be followed, budgets can’t be exceeded, utilisation can be pushed.
Grounded & Enduring
That which has stable foundations, endures.
Grounded & Enduring
We do not forget our roots, which are grounded in the tangible and real. They are the mine and the machine, the grid or the remote town. We don’t forget that the truest information is from the ground and that’s the best place to operate from. The ground is where foundations are laid. It’s where the machine is - Go, look and see.

our footprint
We believe every asset possesses an optimal maintenance philosophy, defined by its context, criticality, objectives, resources and constraints.
We believe software should do more than store information.
We have been where systems are created.
Where systems are tested.
And where systems fail.

The future

Replacing subjective methodswith intelligent logic.

We believe every asset possesses an optimal maintenance philosophy, defined by its context, criticality, objectives, resources and constraints. And we believe software should do more than store information.
Software should guide improvement.
It should continually prompt organisations toward better decisions, stronger foundations and a more appropriate state of maintenance.
